Man and Ideas
The Man and Ideas (MI) module is a critical thinking module that challenges students to critically examine how knowledge is constructed and how ethics shape our daily lives. By investigating the nature of truth in a world defined by artificial intelligence, big data, and fake news, students learn to critically examine the nature of knowledge: how we acquire it, how we preserve it and how we communicate it. The program also explores the foundations of morality, examining the grounds we have for our moral decisions. Through a relational lens, students examine concepts of duty, freedom, and interdependence, discovering how normative ethical theories can help resolve real-world moral dilemmas. Ultimately, by engaging deeply with diverse perspectives and applying abstract theories to tangible scenarios, students develop the intellectual agility and critical thinking skills required to navigate the world around them.
