Malay Cultural Society
Malay Cultural Society (MCS), previously known as MLDDS, aims to instil a deeper understanding of Malay culture while strengthening ties between members and providing a platform to actively serve the College with honour. Members have vast opportunities to attend seminars, dialogue sessions, workshops, theatre performances, learning journeys, and to represent the school in competitions and other enrichment activities. This allows our members to develop a stronger sense of appreciation for Malay culture in addition to honing skills such as leadership, creativity, communication, and collaboration.
MCS also organises the Hari Raya Celebration (HRC), and all members are involved in the planning and execution of this annual event. The HRC enables members to reach out to JH and SH students, and come together in promoting Malay culture, particularly in educating fellow NJCians on the significance and celebrating the festival with the college community. We also reach out to the wider community, namely via Values in Action (VIA) projects and cultural exchange activities. Apart from cultural sharing, we also emphasise the importance of being effectively bilingual and highlight the importance of translation in our activities.
