Climbing
The NJC Climbing team has evolved from a small interest group into a thriving community. Our members train at the College’s Boulder Gym, which holds the distinction of being the first in Singapore to house a Tsunami wall. Our mission is to develop adventurous individuals who carry a lifelong passion for climbing. Central to our identity is our united family, comprising students, teachers, and active alumni who frequently return to mentor the next generation. With many graduates going on to excel in varsity teams, we are proud to be a home for passionate sportsmen and a supportive family bonded by the love of the sport.
The NJC Climbing team trains at least twice a week, with training schedule being ramped up to three times a week in preparation for climbing competitions. To allow students to challenge themselves in the sport of climbing, the College sends members to take part in various competitions, including the National School Games as well as competitions that are open to the public. We train in all disciplines of the sport including sport climbing and bouldering. During CCA activities, students of the NJC Climbing team also learn about safety knowledge as well as belay techniques and will graduate with certification in Level 1 and Level 2 Sport Climbing. We also organise various camps, bonding activities, as well as overseas trips to allow students to explore different climbing terrains.
