Chinese Dance
NJC Chinese Dance (NJCD) brings together students from all six levels, with or without dance backgrounds, to develop an appreciation for Chinese culture and dance as an art form. Dance grants an outlet for creative self-expression, while the increased awareness of our bodies enhances our meta-cognition. More importantly, NJCD aims to inculcate values such as resilience, discipline, and a sense of camaraderie among our dancers.
NJCD blends traditional elements into contemporary Chinese Dance, enabling our students to connect with their roots. We are proud to showcase our dedication across diverse platforms, from the Singapore Youth Festival and our biennial combined dance concert, Aristal to College celebrations, like the Chinese New Year concert, Open House, and various festive public performances. To cultivate a sense of ownership in NJCD, we empower our dancers with the creative autonomy to choreograph their own performance for the annual Senior High CCA Carnival, supported by close mentorship from our instructors. Our dancers also hone their leadership and organisational capabilities by planning training sessions and CCA activities, spearheading Values in Action (VIA) projects, actively managing budget and inventory, all while fostering the socio-emotional welfare of their peers.
