Physical Education
The Physical Education Department at National Junior College offers a vibrant and holistic program that nurtures a lifelong love for movement, health, and well-being. Through engaging lessons and signature college-wide events such as the annual ACES Day Dance, College Road Run, and Healthy Lifestyle Month, students are encouraged to embrace active living, strengthen community bonds, and develop positive attitudes towards fitness.
Junior High (JH)
Junior High students build strong foundations in physical literacy, outdoor confidence, and health awareness. They experience a broad range of Team and Individual sports across the Invasion, Net-Barrier, and Striking/Fielding categories, developing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Outdoor Education plays a key role in the JH experience. Through activities such as navigation, outdoor cooking, camp programmes, and adventure-based learning, students cultivate resilience, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence.
Students also acquire essential Health and Safety competencies, including fitness education, basic first aid, and CPR/AED awareness, equipping them with practical skills for everyday life.
Senior High (SH)
In Senior High, students deepen their engagement in sport and physical activity through the Sports Education Model, where they take on varied roles that promote leadership, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of games and strategies.
Health and Fitness Education focuses on training principles, fitness planning, and overall well-being, empowering students to take personal responsibility for maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle beyond school.
As part of the Elective Games module, students can choose from a range of novel sports and activities introduced by teachers. Past offerings include Skateboarding, Flag Football, Kabaddi, Gaelic Football, Calisthenics, and Kin-Ball. These unique experiences encourage exploration, enjoyment, and continued participation in physical activity, supporting a balanced and active lifestyle beyond college years.
