  1. What is Advanced Humanities (AH)?
    Advanced Humanities is a 1.5-year programme for JH3 – 4 students passionate about the Humanities. It is a stretch, interdisciplinary Humanities curriculum that is designed to help students to make connections between the different subjects, as well as understand ongoing contemporary issues in the real world. Students take this as an additional subject on top of History or Geography, and Governance and Society, at Upper JH.

  1. What do we do in AH?
    We employ a modular approach where we constantly refresh what we offer to keep in line with current trends and student interest.

    • Some examples of our modules include:

      • The evolution of the disciplines: Historiography and Geographic Thought

      • Model United Nations

      • Culture and Heritage

      • Geopolitics

      • Regional Studies

As an extension to the Regional Studies, students are given opportunities to share their research findings with their cohort peers to help them understand Southeast Asia and ASEAN better.

  1. How do I join AH?

    • All JH3 students are briefed on AH in Term 2 

    • Students indicate their interest to offer AH  

    • Successful candidates will be offered AH at the same time as the results for application to other electives are released  

    • Prerequisites: An A grade for History and Geography at Lower JH + Teacher Recommendation (exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
