1. Basketball

(1) Ball sense, agility, coordination

(3) Assists, rebound (offensive and defensive) and fast break
(4) Offensive skills such as ball handling, shooting, layup
(5) Defensive skills such as man to man defense and zone defense
(6) Experiences at competitive games would be an advantage
(7) Stamina for guards would be an advantage
(8) Size and height for centers and small forward would be an advantage

2. Canoeing & Dragon Boating

(1) Psychomotor coordination
(2) Balance
(3) NAPFA Silver and above preferred

Committed to participating in Dragon Boating as well.

3. Shooting

(1) Balance and Stability
(2) Prior experience in the sport (Represented school and competed in NSG and/or recognised Shooting Competitions)
(3) NAPFA Silver and above preferred (Please provide supporting relevant information and competitive experience)

4. Softball

(1) Have attributes and fitness levels that are required for the sport
(2) Have technical skills that are required for the sport
(3) Have tactical understanding of softball and game sense
(4) Have good character and attitude
(5) Interest in leading and guiding peers, and in building positive team culture

2-year commitment to CCA, and high commitments to softball competitions and events.

5. Track & Field / Cross Country

(1) Prior competitive experience in sports (not limited to track & field) - please submit supporting information regarding relevant competitive experience - e.g. NAPFA 2.4km results, performance in school track/cross-country meet, NSG representation in other sports etc.
(2) Coordination & Agility
(3) Stamina
(4) Speed

Track & Field and Cross Country operate as one CCA. Applicants to Cross-Country are expected to commit to Track & Field, and vice versa.

6. Rock Wall Climbing

(1) Balance

(3) Core and upper-body strength
(4) Can climb the climb grade:
at least V4 or equivalent (Girls);
at least V5 or equivalent (Boys)

7. Floorball (Boys Only)

(1) Interest and experience to lead and guide peers who are new to the sport

(4) Portfolio showcasing a maximum of 2 links to video clips (maximum 4-5mins long each) of applicant in action (e.g rehearsal clips, or performed monologues)
(5) (Optional) External theatrical experience/ certification

1. Interact Club (Community Youth Leadership)

(1) Demonstrate sustained involvement (at least 2 years) in community service or community-based activities with a consistent beneficiary group
(2) Hold leadership positions in service-oriented programmes, with opportunities to demonstrate initiative, empathy and the ability to lead through service, alongside an understanding of social issues and community needs
(Examples include uniformed groups such as Red Cross Youth, St John’s Brigade, Girl Guides or Scouts, sustained service learning programmes or long-term involvement in community or healthcare settings)
(3) Possess experience engaging individuals with special needs, including those with intellectual or learning disabilities and show readiness to take initiative in advocating for and supporting inclusion, in alignment with the College’s partnership with special needs organisations.

1. Art Elective Programme

(1)   Talent – applicant has unique and interesting ideas and messages about what/how to make art.
(2)   Passion – applicant frequently takes the initiative to seek out art and new ways of making art.
(3)   Fortitude – applicant is excited by artistic challenges and committed to overcome them in order to create great/exciting artworks. He/she looks forward to AEP lessons and is committed to the 2 years at Senior High.
Shortlisting is through evaluation of potential for exploiting educational, growth and contribution opportunities available within NJC, NJC AEP and beyond.

Students admitted to the Art Elective Programme must offer H2 Art and H3 Art. These are examinable A-Level subjects.

2. Malay Language Elective Programme (MLEP)

(1) At least a ‘B3’ in HML/ ‘A2’ in ML/ ‘B4’ in HML AND ‘B3’ in Malay Literature [full/elective] (based on Sec 3 or 4 school assessment)
(2) Clear reasons and goals in joining MLEP
(3) Aspirations on how your skills acquired from MLEP could help the wider community in future
(4) Effectively bilingual in both Malay and English languages

Students admitted through MLEP must offer H2 Malay Language & Literature. This is an examinable A-Level subject.

3. Tamil Language Elective Programme (TLEP)

(1) At least a ‘B3’ in HTL/ ‘A2’ in TL (based on Sec 3 or 4 school assessment)
(2) Clear reasons and goals in joining TLEP
(3) Aspirations on how your skills acquired from TLEP could help the wider community in future
(4) Keen to pursue further studies/professions where modules learnt in TLEP can be applied.

Students admitted through TLEP must offer H2 Tamil Language & Literature. This is an examinable A-Level subject.

4. Science Research Programme

(1) Demonstration of knowledge, clear motivation, interest and passion in STEM Research and Innovation
(2) Strong communication and systematic thinking skills
(3) Effective team player and leadership qualities
(4) Potential and interest to pursue STEM-related career
(5) Passion for championing sustainability and community initiatives using STEM.
Candidates will undergo a two-phase shortlisting process.
In the initial phase, the school's admission team will reach out to applicants in mid to late June to request their portfolios.
Portfolio Submission Guidelines (submit as 2 separate PDF documents):

1. Mandatory: A one-page portfolio outlining reasons for selection and your involvement in STEM/research activities.

2. Optional: Candidates may include additional documents to support their application.

Phase 1 shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in an interview.

Students admitted through DSA Research must undertake research project(s) in NJC.  

To be engaged in, organise and lead in STEAM-based co-curricular activities and competitions (e.g. coding workshops, design thinking workshops, research and innovation projects, SISTEMIC etc.).
