Subject Combinations

Overview

We offer a variety of subject combinations that cater to students’ interests, strengths and aspirations for further studies. Our subject combinations follow MOE’s curricular requirements.

Merit-Based Allocation

A merit-based allocation approach is used for some subjects, for example when the demand for the subject exceeds the number of places available. You may refer to the indicative cut-off for merit-based allocated subjects from last year’s exercise.

Subjects with Prerequisites and Selection Tests

There is a list of H2 subjects with MOE centrally-set prerequisites as well as those requiring school qualifying tests.

For AY 2027, all qualifying tests will be administered on 04 February. Please note that there will be NO make-up qualifying test / re-test after 04 February.

Subject Combinations (for 2027 JC1 intake)

Students must offer a subject combination that corresponds to their posted stream (Arts or Science).

Students may refer to the subject combinations [PDF, 127.19 KB] ↗ (opens in new tab) offered by the College and select one that best caters to their interests, strengths and aspirations for further studies.

A subject combination will be opened if there are at least ten students who have registered for that combination.

Students who do not meet combination-specific criteria will be considered individually. The College will allocate them a suitable subject combination within their posted stream after discussing their strengths, interests and aspirations.
